Senior Power Electronics Engineer

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the hardware development of 10kW to 100kW converters, inverters, battery chargers, and variable frequency drives from conceptualization, simulation, hardware design, control development and testing.

• Provide guidance and review of PCB and system level design to ensure high performance of the power electronics systems.

• Demonstrate expertise in designing with MOSFETS, IGBT, SiC, and GaN devices.

• Work independently on small projects or as part of a large multi-discipline team on larger projects, including working with both in-house inter-discipline engineers and partners to provide our clients the highest quality service and products.

• Design, model, and simulate control and power circuits using simulation tools such as PSpice, LTSpice, Tina, Plecs.

• Develop and execute design verification testing, design evaluation, design margins, FMEA, and analysis of product performance to meet electrical specifications and regulatory compliance.

• Develop and build prototypes to validate design concepts. Conduct rigorous testing and validation to ensure the robustness and reliability of power electronics systems.

• Perform design revisions and updates on new and existing products and work with contract manufacturers to ensure reliable and cost-effective production.

• Work closely with other cross-functional engineering teams including mechanical, software, and firmware to support the design and development of the complete solution.

• Have solid experience in product development, hardware design and software/hardware integration.

Requirements

• Minimum 3 years experience in power electronics design and control.

• Solid understanding of analog circuitry, SMPS, ADCs/DACs, microprocessors, FPGAs & DSPs.

• Experience with STM32 processor families.

• Experience with battery characteristics/spectroscopy is highly preferable.

• Experience with EV/High Power applications is highly preferable.

• Proven ability to work well as part of a team and with minimal supervision.

• Ability to travel occasionally, including international travel.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to document work. 

• A BSc, MSc, or PhD in Applied Mathematics, Engineering Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a similar field.
