On October 8, the Pulsenics team joined Sweden Canada Innovation Days 2026 at the University of Toronto’s Schwartz Reisman Innovation Campus. Hosted by Business Sweden with support from Vinnova and the Swedish Energy Agency, the event brought together industry, academia, investors and government from both countries. The focus was clear: driving the green transition by advancing the battery value chain and advanced materials.

A session that stood out for us was the Battery Value Chain sector panel, which brought together experts from the Battery Metals Association of Canada, Volvo Group, NEO Battery Materials and Energy Node. They shared how they are tackling the industry’s biggest challenges in Sweden and Canada, from materials to cell manufacturing and thermal management. Our key takeaway: building a competitive battery industry depends on more than new factories. It takes collaboration across every link in the value chain, and manufacturing processes that deliver quality and reliability at scale from day one.

One message came through in our discussions with battery manufacturers: as new factories ramp up, quality control is becoming a bottleneck. Teams scaling cell production want technologies built for mass production that can grade cells quickly without slowing the line. This is exactly where EIS-based diagnostics like AccelaGrade can help, giving manufacturers detailed insight into cell health in a fraction of the time of traditional testing.

We left the event with new connections and a stronger view of how Sweden and Canada can work together across the battery value chain. Thank you to Business Sweden, Vinnova and the Swedish Energy Agency for bringing this community together. We look forward to continuing these conversations and building partnerships on both sides of the Atlantic. Our journey with Sweden continues.

Next month, Pulsenics will travel to Sweden as part of the Canadian Technology Accelerator (CTA): Sweden Battery Value Chain Special Edition, a Government of Canada program. While there, we will attend Battery Innovation Days in Stockholm on November 11–12.
