Qualify battery modules prior to pack integration

Who this is for: Module line engineers at battery factories, and quality control technicians at pack integrators

PROBLEM: Battery modules should be tested before integration into packs. However, 100% coverage of incoming modules is often unfeasible, exposing pack makers to warranty risk.

SOLUTION: AccelaGrade Module

About incoming module QC

When a battery module fails in the field, it can disable the entire pack, leading to a disproportionate expense for the warranty guarantor. Catching defective modules prior to installing the BMS is far cheaper, and much better for an integrator’s reputation, than allowing the quality escape.

Defective modules are often actually defective cells. A single issue, such as lithium loss, malformed separators, or passivation of electrodes, can impair the performance of an entire module. These defects are difficult to identify using legacy QC equipment, usually cyclers, performing charge, ACIR and DCIR tests.

AcceleGrade, by Pulsenics, can detect these cell-level manufacturing problems via module-level testing. This radically alters the economics of incoming module QC, whether those modules are coming from an external vendor or your own lines. Our fast, thorough, and affordable solution enables total QC coverage of incoming modules without expensive facility upgrades.

The AccelaGrade Difference

AccelaGrade™ Module brings the Pulsenics grading engine to the module level. Qualify assembled modules at scale without full charge-discharge cycling.

AccelaGrade Module gives you the outcomes you need:

  • 100% module coverage on assembly lines
  • Configurable pass/fail thresholds per pack program
  • Standardize acceptance across vendors and lots
  • Detect outliers early to protect string-level performance

PERFORMANCE

Up to 17x faster than cyclers!

AccelaGrade can grade a battery module in less than 30 minutes with up to 6 modules in parallel. AccelaGrade™ Module is a fully integrated battery testing and grading solution that cycles and grades cells using capacity and impedance measurements. It features robust temperature sensing and a patented cell balancing mechanism to ensure accurate, repeatable results.

AccelaGrade rapidly integrates data from:

  • Partial cycling
  • Temperature measurements
  • Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS)

PRICE

AccelaGrade has the among the lowest costs per module of any solution. Because it completes a grade much faster than a cycler, it saves on both labor hours and energy costs per unit. AccelaGrade’s modular architecture also does not require electrical upgrades in most scenarios.

Compared to cyclers, AccelaGrade:

  • Delivers lower cost of quality.
  • Uses a fraction of the electricity per module.

Cyclers can’t match AccelaGrade’s performance or thoughput
